Tânia Cardoso Simões - Portugal

Tânia Cardoso Simões has been the chairwoman of the Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) since November 2021.

Ms Cardoso Simões has been a member of the Board of ANAC since 2016. Previously, she was a legal advisor at the Portuguese Competition Authority since 2003, working in areas such as the evaluation of public policies, merger control and regulated markets, including aviation. She was also a teaching assistant at the Lisbon University School of Law between 1995 and 2012.

Ms Cardoso Simões has a master’s in European law from the Lisbon University School of Law, and a postgraduate diploma in EU competition law from King's College London, as well as a postgraduate degree in European law and economic studies from the University of Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne (Collège des Hautes Études Européennes Miguel Servet).
