Chisinau, 26-27 July 2023 — The content and recommendations from the ECAC Guidance on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) published in February 2023 were the focus of the fourth tailored SAF training activity provided to an ECAC Member State and hosted on this occasion by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Moldova.
Videoconference, 18 July 2023 — The ECAC Medium-Term Objectives (EMTO) Task Force meeting focused on the mid-term review of the 2022-2024 work programme and the beginning of the process for developing the budget and work programme for 2025-2027. The task force drew a number of lessons from the experience of the current work programme so that they can be taken into account in the 2025-27 triennium, including consistency of approach between the various domains in ECAC’s work.
Videoconference, 17 July 2023 — Recent diversity and inclusion developments in ECAC Member States, and the implementation of the 2023 work programme of the ECAC Network on Diversity and Inclusion in civil aviation (NETD&I) were core issues addressed at the network’s fourth meeting in July.
Participants acknowledged the value of sharing case studies and good practices, and the importance of developing guidance material for the benefit of all ECAC Member States. The implementation of the ECAC Charter on Diversity and Inclusion adopted by Directors General in May 2023 was another key point of discussion. The group in particular recognised the importance of identifying and promoting diversity champions within the administrations of all the ECAC Member States.
Lisbon, 14 July 2023 — ECAC delivered a training on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) for the Community of Lusophone Aviation Authorities (CAACL), the civil aviation bodies from Portuguese speaking countries. Fifty-six experts from Angola, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea and Portugal attended, with eight following the workshop online.
Kyiv/hybrid, 6 July 2023 — A capacity-building activity on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) targeting Ukraine’s scientific community was organised with the support of the ECAC Secretariat through participation in a panel during an academic conference held in Kyiv on 3-7 July 2023: “Theory and Practice of the Use of Traditional and Alternative Fuels and Lubricants”.
Addis Ababa, 3-5 July 2023 — The ECAC Secretariat gave a presentation at the first African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) Workshop on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), held in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), on ECAC’s SAF guidance material published in February 2023, and the organisation’s current work to support European and other partner States in promoting SAF.
