Videoconference, 18 September 2025 — Agreement on updated performance requirements for explosive detection dogs (EDDs), and endorsement of revised quality control guidance for EDD teams were key outcomes of the 46th meeting of the Study Group on Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD), held online in September.
The group also reviewed progress on other tasks under the 2025 work programme.
Looking ahead, the study group discussed its priorities for 2026. These include a thematic review of EDD capabilities in detecting improvised incendiary devices, an update of existing ECAC guidance documents, and an assessment of available training aids supported by practical testing in Member States. The meeting also endorsed its 2026 meeting schedule, ensuring continued cooperation and progress in strengthening EDD detection across Europe and beyond.
