20-21 May 2021 - The ECAC Secretariat joined forces with the European Commission’s DG MOVE to organise a first workshop on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques on aviation security.
5 May 2021 - During the DGCA/156 meeting held on 5 May 2021, Directors General elected by acclamation Ms Elisabeth Landrichter, Director General of Civil Aviation of Austria, and Mr Kemal Yüksek, Acting Director General of Civil Aviation for Türkiye, as new members of the ECAC Coordinating Committee.
5 May 2021 - ECAC’s Directors General met virtually for their 156th meeting, joined by observers from the European Commission, EASA, EUROCONTROL, ICAO and JAA TO.
The impact of the pandemic on the European air transport sector - including on civil aviation authorities - and the challenges associated with the recovery of the sector, featured high on the agenda.
28-29 April 2021 - Key elements of security culture were discussed virtually by more than 20 security experts, including industry representatives, from Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine at a workshop on security culture organised by ECAC under the EU-funded and EASA/ECAC-implemented Eastern Partnership and Central Asia (EaP/CA) Project.
27 April 2021 - The draft revised 2021 edition of the ECAC/EU guidelines for European action plans prepared by the APER Task Group was presented to the European Focal Points on State Action Plans and to experts from EAEG Expanded at the second ECAC Environmental State Action Plans Information Seminar, held in April. The participants noted that APERTG’s proposed updates to the previous (2018) edition, which at the time of the seminar were under review by EAEG Expanded, include an adjusted European baseline scenario up to 2050 and a revised description of measures implemented collectively in Europe.
8 and 26 April 2021 - Two European coordination meetings were hosted by ECAC in April for Directors General of ECAC Member States, DG MOVE, EASA and EUROCONTROL to discuss developments surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on aviation.
