Mandello del Lario/videoconference, 11-12 June 2025 — Technical experts gathered in Italy for the 91st meeting of the ECAC Technical Task Force (TTF) to discuss the latest advances in aviation security equipment.
A key focus of discussions was the development of the 3D image quality Standard Test Piece (STP), led by France. Norway presented the preliminary test results using the new STP, and the meeting noted the importance of defining robust image quality benchmarks. Member States were encouraged to incorporate the STP into their national testing programmes to support data collection for future standardisation efforts.
Further progress was reported on the development of simulants for security equipment testing, with a draft protocol expected this summer.
On common routine testing methodologies (CRTM), the task force confirmed plans to update the CRTMs for EDS equipment. A draft is expected to be presented at the next meeting in October 2025.
Participants expressed their appreciation to Italy and Gilardoni S.p.A. for hosting a technical visit to their production and testing facilities in the margins of the meeting.
