Biography

Eric de Vries is an air traffic management (ATM) policy advisor at the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Directorate General for Civil Aviation. In this role, he coordinates European and international ATM policy on behalf of the Netherlands.

He represents the Netherlands in a wide range of European and global aviation fora, including the Single European Sky Committee, the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking States Representatives Group, the NSA Cooperation Board, several EUROCONTROL bodies (including CMSC as co-chair, SCF and MUAC), and ICAO groups such as EASPG and the GANP Study Group. He is also responsible for the Dutch governance of the EUROCONTROL Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre.

Before focusing on ATM policy, Eric worked across multiple public policy areas, including airport development, environmental policy and social affairs. He holds an MSc in Civil Engineering and Business Administration from the University of Twente. He graduated in technology and management in developing countries, and conducted his field research in Indonesia.
