Alessio Quaranta was elected President of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) during ECAC's 39th (Plenary) Triennial Session on 12 July 2021 and was re-elected to the position during the 42nd Plenary (Triennial) Session in July 2024.

He graduated in law, holds a postgraduate specialisation degree in public administration, and has attended several further training courses in legal areas. From 2009 to 2025, he was the Director General at ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority). Currently, he holds the position of Secretary General of the Italian Transport Regulation Authority. He also holds the following positions in several civil aviation organisations: President of EATEO (European Association of Aviation Training and Education Organisations); member of the Provisional Council and the President Bureau of EUROCONTROL; and Vice-President of NER (Network of Economic Regulators) of OCSE.

He held several positions in the civil aviation field, including the following: President of the Joint Aviation Authorities - Training Organisation Foundation Board; ECAC Vice-President; Focal Point for Facilitation and Security; Focal Point for Economic matters.

He is a member of the scientific committee of a number of journals, author of articles and publications, and speaker at several conferences on national and international air transport issues.
