Videoconference, 22 October 2025 — Enhancing institutional communication to improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility was among the key topics discussed at the ninth meeting of the ECAC Network of Communication Specialists in Civil Aviation, led by the group’s newly appointed chair, Francesca Miceli (Italy).

Representatives from ECAC Member States shared experiences and perspectives from their national organisations on a range of topics. In addition, the group reviewed progress on the 2025 work programme, noting that the network’s activities had enhanced teamwork and crisis management across Member States’ experts.

A highlight of the meeting was a presentation by Mark de Laurentiis (Italy) on the “One Click Away” initiative, which helps passengers with reduced mobility easily access information about their rights, and the support available on airlines’ websites. The project encourages passengers to notify airports of assistance needs in advance, enabling staff to provide a more positive travel experience.

Looking ahead to 2026, the network will focus on sharing best practices on drone communication, exploring the role of artificial intelligence in communication, fostering cooperation between ECAC Member States, and promoting initiatives to attract the next generation to aviation.
