Jon Horne - ECA

Biography

As President of ECA, the representative body for Europe's professional pilots, Jon has worked in technical, training and safety areas for the profession, as well as the legal, political and employment spheres of the aviation industry over many years. He has served as Vice-Chair of the EU Social Dialogue in Civil Aviation, representing and working with all sides of the aviation industry in Europe, and on the board of global pilots' federation IFALPA, giving broader experience including of the work of ICAO.  

At ECA, Jon Horne has significant experience working with EASA and the EU institutions, and dealing with the creation and implementation of aviation regulatory and legal measures.

He is also an active airline pilot, presently as a captain on Airbus shorthaul operations and previously on the Boeing 747. This brings a broad and detailed practical understanding of the operational and commercial challenges on the front line of the airline industry.

He has appeared as an industry representative before both the United Kingdom and European Parliaments and is a regular expert contributor at international aviation political, legal and safety events.

In his spare time, Jon is a keen sailor and classic boat enthusiast.
