Biography

At the beginning of his career, Kari Siekkinen worked for 12 years as an air traffic controller and as head of ATC at an airport in northern Finland (1988-1998 at Finavia (Helsinki) and 1998-2000 at Serco (Abu Dhabi)). After returning to Finland, Mr Siekkinen worked for ten years in various positions at the Finnish Flight Safety Authority as an ANS Inspector, as head of the Air Navigation Services unit and finally as deputy director of the Air Navigation Services and Aerodromes department.

When the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi) was founded in 2010, Mr Siekkinen joined the organisation at the beginning of 2010. Today he holds the position of chief advisor at the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) and his main task is international coordination of matters related to air navigation, airspace management and aerodromes. Mr Siekkinen represents Traficom at many ICAO, EU, EASA and EUROCONTROL meetings and chairs several groups.
