Biography

Panayiota G. Demetriou began her career as an electrical engineer and soon after the completion of her studies she became an air traffic controller, serving in various operational positions for more than 15 years.

In 2004, she was appointed as the head of the National Supervisory Authority, responsible for the oversight of air navigation service providers and ATC training organisations in Cyprus. In the context of her new role, she represented the State in numerous EU fora and in particular contributed actively to the development and implementation of the Single European Sky legal framework in Europe.

In 2016, Ms Demetriou took the next important step in her professional career when she was appointed as Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Cyprus, a position she still holds today.

In her personal time, Ms Demetriou enjoys long walks in the beautiful nature of the island of Cyprus.
