Alexandra Kaufman - United Kingdom

Alexandra (Alex) Kaufman is communications director for the Civil Aviation Authority, a position she was appointed to in April 2021. Alex is responsible for external and internal communications across the aviation and space regulator, leading a team of 35 people.

Alex is a communications leader used to working in issues-rich, complex, highly-political and often regulated environments. She has expertise in public affairs, crisis communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement, internal communications and campaign planning.

Alex has an impressive career in strategic communications focusing on transport and infrastructure; Prior to joining the CAA Alex served as communications director of Crossrail Ltd, the £20bn rail infrastructure project to connect London. Alex was at BAA for six years where she held various roles including head of strategic communications for Heathrow Airport. She then moved to EDF Energy where she held a variety of senior roles including taking up executive level responsibility for communications across their nuclear new build programme including Hinkley Point C, the first new nuclear power station to be build in the UK for a generation. Alex has also worked for a number of public affairs and communications consultancies.
